I’ve been reading the media coverage about the PIP implant concerns with interest, and a number of my clients have too. There has been some conflicting information published so here is the official advice that I’m giving my clients.
Firstly, despite having carried out thousands of breast implant procedures, I have only ever used a fw of the PIP implants. I decided very early on that I just did not like the results they gave.
So how can you tell what implants you had? Well, if you still have your implant registration card, the name of your implant manufacturer should be on a label on the card so a quick check will give you much needed reassurance.
Even if you do have PIP implants, you should not rush into having them removed unless they are leaking or ruptured. A breast ultrasound will confirm whether or not this is the case.
